A guide to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Following the recent renewal of the Data Protection Act with the new European legislation, we at Bookrite have compiled a handy guide on this matter, to clear up any confusion.
Why has the legislation been changed?
>To keep up with advancing technologies such as social media
>To standardise all European countries' approach to data protection
>To ensure businesses who work with EU companies also have the same approach to data protection
What will you have to do?
>Design internal policies to minimise risk of personal data loss
>Be clear about what you are doing with any personal information acquired
>Provide clients with a short privacy statement
If these new rules aren't enforced in your company, any fines will be greater than before. The government has also established that this legislation will carry on after we leave the European Union. These rules will have to be applied to any past and current clients, as well as any new clients in the future.
Of course, we at Bookrite have always taken the utmost care with our customer's personal information, taking pride in knowing that our customers trust us, and we will be taking steps to be even more stringent moving forward. In other words, there's nothing for any Bookrite customers to worry about.
